A Small Pencil with Oversized Brand Visibility
Think about how a scoring pencil actually moves through a round. Somebody grabs it at the starter table. It rides in the cart clip for 18 holes. Then one of the four pockets it without noticing and it turns up in a kitchen drawer in March. Four-plus hours in a player’s hand, for less than a quarter. Hard to name another sponsor item that does that. Charity outings and corporate scrambles use golf pencils the same way member-guest weekends do, tossed into the cart clips or the registration bags before the first group heads out.
Hex Golf Pencils

Natural Finish
Bare wood, clear coat, no paint. Go dark on the imprint color, because light ink gets lost on it. Round and hex cost the same in this finish, $0.19 at 1,008.

Golf pencil pricing is simple once you know the box sizes. A gross is 144 pencils, and every quantity tier is a multiple of that.
At the minimum: 1,008 or 1,440 pieces
Seven gross (1,008) is the starting point on most of our styles and ten gross (1,440) on the rest. At that level you are paying $0.14 to $0.34 per pencil depending on barrel, finish and eraser. So a starting order lands somewhere between roughly $190 and $375 before setup and shipping. One round style can be ordered at 504 for $0.28 each.
2,500 to 5,000 pieces
A course buying for the whole season tends to end up here. How much you save over the minimum tier depends on where the style started: a penny on the cheap hex, as much as eight cents on the pricier ones. Pencil with an eraser, for instance: $0.34 drops to $0.26 at 5,040.
10,000 and up
Wholesale golf pencils for multi-course operators, distributors and large church networks. The plain hex gets down to $0.11 at 14,400 and $0.10 at 28,800. A sponsor logo on the scoring pencil is one of the cheaper sponsorship items to offer, and it gets held all day. Often ordered with logo golf balls and tees so the cart setup matches.
Churches
Pew pencils disappear constantly. That is not a complaint: a pencil that goes home with a visitor has the church name and service times on it.
Mini Golf, Bowling & Game Venues
Anywhere people keep score on paper. Volume goes fast here, so the 10,000-plus tiers on the plain hex are worth pricing.
A full-field shotgun start is 144 players. That is exactly one gross.
So no, one outing does not need 1,008 pencils. What the minimum covers is a season: weekly leagues, the club championship, a couple of outside events, plus the handful that walk off every day from the starter table. If you run one charity scramble a year, the honest math is that a minimum order lasts you several years. Pencils do not expire.
A workable way to estimate for a course: take last season’s rounds, assume about one pencil lost per foursome, and order to the tier above that number.
The imprint area on a golf pencil is small: a short, narrow strip along the barrel. One ink color, one line or two. A course name, a phone number or a web address all work. A detailed crest with fine type does not; at this size thin lines fill in.
