What is a PMS Color Match?

PMS stands for Pantone Matching System — a universal color coding system that assigns a unique number to every imaginable color. These codes are typically 3–4 digit numbers, though some colors (like "Process Blue") have names instead.

If color consistency matters to your brand, knowing your PMS code is the single most reliable way to ensure it.

    Why PMS Color Matching Matters

Brands often have dedicated PMS colors built into their identity guidelines. For example, Microsoft's blue corresponds to PMS 279 — and Microsoft mandates that exact code across all printed materials to maintain brand consistency.

If you're ordering promotional products and need your imprint color to precisely match your logo, specifying a PMS code eliminates guesswork. This is especially important when ordering multiple different products — PMS ensures uniformity across all of them.
